Design an Electric Renault Twizy and Win £9,000 off University Fees

Electric cars can be both fun and affordable and can offer students and younger drivers a safer method of getting around than two wheels,

Renault is giving one lucky student the opportunity to win£9,000 off their university tuition fees if they come up with a winning design for the new Renault Twizy, the 100% electric, two seater car that is due to hit UK showrooms in April. It is capable of up to 50mph and full charge takes three and half hours providing a range of up to 60 miles.

The competition is open to current Higher Education students as well as Further Education students making the step-up this autumn. The winner of the first prize will receive enough money to cover their tuition fees for a year. The second prize is a weekend for two in Paris, with the third prize winner taking home £250 in French Connection vouchers.

To promote the competition, Renault will be visiting four campuses around the UK with a Twizy:

University College London – Mon 13th February

Birmingham City University – Tues 14th February

Manchester Metropolitan University – Thurs 16th February

University of Glasgow – Fri 17th February

A Renault-appointed judging panel, including the brand’s own Senior Vice President, Corporate Design, Laurens van den Acker, will whittle down all of the entries to find their top 10. It will then be up to the general public to cast their votes via Facebook to find the lucky winners who will be announced on 16th April 2012.

British buyers have already been pre-ordering their own trailblazing all-electric Twizy on www.renault-ze.com. There is a choice of three trim levels from just £6,690, plus monthly battery hire from £45 based on 4,500 miles per year, over three years.

Open Planet Initiative Update

TGF have brilliant news,after three months of conceptualization, collaboration and evaluation, Sony and WWF have today announced that the ‘GreenBook’ concept by Paul Frigout has been selected as the final concept to be taken through to realisation from the innovative community platform, Open Planet Ideas.

‘GreenBook’ is a cross platform software application which works much like Freecycle for volunteering. ‘GreenBook’ really does put volunteering in the palm of your hand. Along with this, Sinuic as Paul Frigout is also known in the technological world will now have the chance to realise his concept with Sony Europe’s R&D and Design teams, WWF experts and IDEO creative’s.

As a result of this great initiative Geo-location and social gaming techniques will enable a new type of informal volunteering, where friends locate each other via check-ins and congregate to work on short tasks together. Individuals (and organisations) will be able to use ‘Greenbook’ to post their needs and offer their services, as well as make donations, sign e-petitions, win rewards for participation and share their stories.

The team are now entering the realisation phase of their ongoing initiative during which they’ll be asking the community to help them to refine ‘Greenbook ‘and make it as useful, practical and fun as possible to both individuals and voluntary organisations. From the 26^th of January till the 25^th of February 2011, The Soil Association will be accepting nominations for the annual Organic Industry Awards. This award ceremony acknowledges the best of organic businesses which set high standards of quality and commitment within the organic industry. For those wanting to demonstrate their brands originality and excellence, this is a brilliant marketing tool to do so.

The presentation will take place on Sunday 3^rd April 2011 at the Olympia Conference Centre where awards will structure sections of The Natural & Organic Awards which is in association with Natural Products.

Awards will be presented for 5 categories:

• Best Organic Retailer

• Best Organic Textile Product

• Best Organic Facial Skincare Product

• Best Organic Baby Product

• Best Organic Bodycare Product
