It couldn’t have come at a better time – with summer just around the corner, there’s a million things from Argos that will come in useful this summer. Saving Energy Goes Social with E.ON

Channel 4 Show Home of the Future is launching its fifth and final innovation challenge which features the theme of wellbeing. The show is co-funded by UK energy company E.ON and this month it is asking participants to come up with an answer to what new home energy products or services could enhance your health and happiness?

Watching the Home of the Future has given us here at TGF a real insight as to what we can do to save energy and the good news is that the future looks promising. The show has given us some great hints and tips and has also showcased some cutting edge energy saving gadgets that will make all our lives easier. We’ve seen how the home of a family from Sheffield, The Pereras, has been transformed with state-of-the-art technology and how this has made a huge impact on their everyday lives, with the final episode concentrating on ways to improve the health of the family.

E.ON Innovation is using a crowdsourcing approach to ask the online community for ideas that they hope will enable the UK public to collaborate on designing the next big energy idea. What can you think of that will contribute to saving energy? For instance, we are big social media users at TGF, but did you realise that in the not too distant future it won’t just be used for networking with friends but could help engage groups of people in communities to reduce energy consumption?

Maybe you have had an idea about how technology could help you to become healthier or how to get fit at home. Take up the challenge and submit your idea and it could win you a home energy makeover worth up to £2,000. From the five winners of each episode theme, an overall winner will be selected to receive the ‘Shining Star’ award, which increases the prize to a home energy makeover worth up to £10,000. You could even see your idea transformed into reality and taken into production by E.ON, subject to research and development and a commercial assessment of the products/services.

Organic Monkey Encourage ‘Baby’s First Steps to Fairtrade’

Organic Monkey, the company that supplies organic and Fairtrade skincare for babies and toddlers, is inviting mums and their little monkeys’ up and down the country to take part in ‘Baby’s First Steps to Fairtrade‘ campaign for Fairtrade Fortnight between 27th February and 11th March. Simply cover your little darling’s foot with paint, or come up with some other creative way of capturing an image of their tootsie, add your baby’s name and not only will you be pledging your support for Fairtrade products, but you may win a prize as well!

Share your Energy Saving Ideas with E.ON Innovation

UK energy company E.ON is launching a crowdsourcing online community project, E.ON Innovation, in the search for innovative ideas surrounding energy saving products and services in a bid to raise awareness about energy efficiency. In conjunction with their Channel 4 series Home of the Future that airs on Sunday evenings at 7pm, E.ON is offering one lucky overall winner the chance to win a £10,000 home energy makeover.

Crowdsourcing is a great way to pool knowledge and ideas about green issues, and the power of the people can certainly help to assist in solving problems regarding energy efficiency.

If you have a great idea that could transform energy use in the future, why not take part and submit your proposal to E.ON. 5 different challenges will be set during the next few weeks. These will be based on themes including rest, work, play, food and wellbeing. The best idea for each challenge will win a £2,000 home energy makeover, with one person’s idea receiving a ‘Shining Star’ award and the £10,000 home energy makeover. There is also the exciting prospect of seeing your idea transformed into reality and taken into production by E.ON, subject to research and development and a commercial assessment of the products/services.

To enter you must be resident in the UK (excluding the Channel Islands) and 18 years or older. The cutoff date for submitting your ideas is the 9^th April 2012 at www.eon-innovation.com.

Design an Electric Renault Twizy and Win £9,000 off University Fees

Electric cars can be both fun and affordable and can offer students and younger drivers a safer method of getting around than two wheels,

Renault is giving one lucky student the opportunity to win£9,000 off their university tuition fees if they come up with a winning design for the new Renault Twizy, the 100% electric, two seater car that is due to hit UK showrooms in April. It is capable of up to 50mph and full charge takes three and half hours providing a range of up to 60 miles.

The competition is open to current Higher Education students as well as Further Education students making the step-up this autumn. The winner of the first prize will receive enough money to cover their tuition fees for a year. The second prize is a weekend for two in Paris, with the third prize winner taking home £250 in French Connection vouchers.

The ‘Ecover effect’ – Win an iPad or Holiday with Ecover
