Day 17 TGF Xmas Gift Ideas: Duckie Christmas Market at the Barbican

From the 10th – 30th December 2011 the Barbican foyer will be transformed into an indie gift market with 60 stalls showcasing cult craftspeople, local  artisans, DIY designers, thrifty retro hawkers, wacky upcyclists and community arts curios.

So give the chain stores a miss and come Christmas shopping at the specially created Barbican bazaar where you’ll find a myriad of stalls offering a range of homemade housewares, clothes, jewellery, artwork, speciality foods and cards.

Browse and buy the best in the handmade and homespun. With the added attractions of workshops, pop-up performances and seasonal bonhomie, this is a fresh alternative to the high street.

The Christmas Market will be open on week nights from 6pm – 9.30pm and at weekends from 2pm – 9.30pm. Entry is free.

The  Duckie Christmas Market is held at the Barbican, Silk Street, London EC2, and will not be open on the 12th, 19th, 24th, 25th and 26th December.

Crafty Christmas Workshops will be held during the weekends of Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th, and also on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th when you can get the opportunity to learn new craft skills and create your own Christmas presents and wrapping paper, decorations and fairy lights.

Join in the free Duckie Christmas Party on Friday 16 December 9.30pm till 1am. A seasonal social & showbusiness shebeen starring Amy Lamé, DJs Readers Wifes, UrsulaMartinez, Jess Love, Ryan Styles … and a few Santas. Everybody is welcome. Don’t worry about booking, simply turn up.
