Dreaming of a Greener Holiday

conc cliffsMost of us want to be green, be kinder to the environment and create less of a carbon footprint in our everyday lives. And it’s no different when we go on holiday.

We do our best to separate out the bottles, plastics and the cardboard. We try to buy food, toys and other goods which have less packaging. We try not to leave any electrical goods on standby. But we want to relax and enjoy ourselves too – composting loos are not everyone’s idea of holiday fun.

Classic Green holiday cottages meet the same high standards of comfort you’d expect from any other holiday cottage, but with the added bonus of eco credentials – meaning you can get on with the important job of enjoying your holiday with a clear green conscience.

In a Classic Cottage, It’s Easy Being Green

Unwind on a wind-powered Cornish organic farm.

Take a break in a beautiful barn nestled among the flowers, wildlife, woodland walks, lakes and streams in north Devon’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Escape deep into the heart of the Dorset countryside in a characterful cottage, complete with its own stunning swimming pool.

Sink into a supersize hot tub in the unspoilt Somerset countryside.

We make it easy to find holiday cottages that combine the green factor with the ‘Wow’ factor.

Our Classic Green scheme identifies holiday cottages where the owners have taken extra steps to be kinder to the environment. These range from composting and buying local produce for the welcome tray to subscribing to green energy tariffs and installing efficient heating systems, as well as meeting a core of basic requirements.

We’ve got 47 eco friendly holiday cottages dotted throughout The West Country. Make your dream green holiday come true.

Happy Campers

Hankering after a more earthy experience? If spending your days relaxing in 12 acres of meadow with plenty of room to roam, fly a kite, or read a book in the ingenious upcycled hammock sounds enticing, then glamping is for you.

Glamorous camping offers all the best bits of camping  – evenings sitting under a canopy of stars, toasting marshmallows over the fire in the quietness you only get deep in the countryside, far away from the noise of speeding traffic– but does away with the bits we’d rather forget, like the damp two-man tent, the uncomfortable nights in sleeping bags on the thinnest of plastic mats, and those late night dashes in the rain to find the shower block.

Tucked away in the Cornish countryside, you can experience all the beauty of the great outdoors then settle in for the night under canvas in comfort.  Curl up on a comfy bed and snuggle under luxurious linens, secure in the knowledge that running water, a fridge, a wood-fired stove, hot shower, WC and a double power socket are at your fingertips.

Our safari tents are raised up on wooden platforms and equipped to the highest standard. With separate bedrooms, living space, personal shower and WC, this is luxury camping at its best. We currently have two tents – Hobie and Woody – for your glamping holiday in The West Country.
