Hawaii Island Retreat

Hawaii Island Retreat at Ahu Pohaku Ho’omaluhia is a sacred site serving as a physical and spiritual healing retreat center. They are a luxury eco-conscious spa retreat designed to be in harmony with nature. Located along the pristine Kohala coastline with breathtaking views of the ocean, it is a place where individuals and groups may find peace and tranquility among the ancient stones and healing gardens. Nestled among towering Ironwood trees their intimate and unique boutique hotel has been constructed with the intention of teaching all who come here how to live in harmony with the earth.

Many of the sustainable practices they have implemented in their effort to achieve this goal are taught to guests: efforts such as producing their own electricity through solar cells (photovoltaic panels). The retreat is designed to use natural lighting during the day and used full-spectrum compact fluorescents for night. Much of the flooring throughout the retreat is Tiger wood, a farmed sustainable hardwood that does not impact native forests. Their 50 acre Hawaiian sanctuary has abundant organic vegetable gardens and tropical fruit trees. All organic waste is recycled back into the soil through an active system of composting Each individual that leaves the retreat goes home with a sense of peacefulness and a new understanding that living lightly on the earth is not only an attainable goal, it is also an achievable reality.
