Fab reusable bags from Onya

Onya bags are brilliant! First developed in Australia, they are made from extremely light-weight parachute material. The bags weigh hardly anything and scrunch up easily into a tiny little pouch. I first spotted Onya bags when I visited the Eden Project last year and bought myself one of the very handy ‘BIG’ Onya Bags (£8.50). Despite being very large and strong, the scrunched up BIG Onya bag is small enough to keep in a handbag and I always keep it with me. It’s perfect for all those unplanned high street shopping trips and is ideal for clothes, magazines and anything else you may feel like buying! The BIG Onya can be used as an ordinary bag with a small handle, or the strap can be cleverly turned around so that it can be worn on your shoulder.
Having been very pleased with my first Onya purchase, I decided to have a look at their website and see what else they had to offer. The first thing that caught my eye was the ingenious ‘Onya Weigh’. I always remember to take my reusable bags to the supermarket, but I still have to use several plastic bags when buying fruit and vegetables. The Onya Weigh is a small pouch which contains several strong tulle bags, each capable of holding up to 2 kg of produce. The tulle bags are extremely lightweight and don’t weigh anything on the scales. They are see-through so that shop assistants can see the produce at the checkout and as they are a mesh design they can even be used as a colander to wash the fruit and veg when you get home! The MINI Onya Weigh (£7.50) contains 4 tulle bags and the MAXI version (£8.50) contains 5.
The other Onya item that I will definitely be buying is the Wrap N Mat (£4.25). The Wrap N Mat is a lightweight, reusable sandwich wrap and place mat in one. The lightweight material has a food safe PEVA liner that wipes clean. Simply fold the wrap around your food and seal the Velcro closure, then when you are ready to eat, the wrap can be unfolded and used as a place mat. No more plastic sandwich bags or cling film.
Onya have lots of other wonderful products available directly from their website and they all come in a range of great funky colours.
I’m not the only one who loves Onya bags, to see Brenda’s post on them click here.
