Who are you and what is your position?

I am Zoe Newcombe and I am the owner of Opal Products along with my Husband James.

The reason for starting your company?

The idea for Opal Products was born back in 2006 when James & Zoe (Company Founders) made a trip to the USA. On arrival at the house where they were staying they were greeted by a truly delightful smell in the air. What is that smell? Where is it coming from? They went on to discover that in each closet there was a small tin which contained a scented pad and this was where the smell was coming from and they were called California Scents! There were different scents in each bedroom and we just loved them! Each and every time we entered the house we were greeted by that same fresh delightful smell. The next day we were off down to the local supermarket to stock up on these gorgeous air fresheners to take back to the UK! The whole house smelt delicious for the rest of the vacation and we were hooked….

We returned to the UK and passed on our new little tins to friends and family. Everyone loved them, there was only one problem, once the scents had ran out (over 60 days later) we had ran out of stock! How can we get them into the UK we thought, we want to share these with other people. After a lot of searching we discovered that we could import them directly from California Scents and here the idea for a website selling the products was born. In addition we now sell on a wholesale basis to clients across the UK.

How long have you been in business?

Opal Products was born in August 2008, however we have been in business since 2001.

Tell us about your products?

California Scents are air fresheners for the home, office and car. They are a fantastic product which are made from a 100% pure organic fragrance formula. In addition to this they are recyclable, biodegradable and kind to the environment. Each tin contains a scented fibre pad which lasts for 60 days. They come in a variety of fragrances which are all irresistible.

What is your favourite green luxury item?

My favourite green luxury item has to be the Avalon Apple Cider spillproof tin from California Scents!

What is your top green tip?

My top green tip is to keep a plastic tub by the bin where you can put all of your recyclable items then you can just carry it out to your dustbins and transfer the items to the relevant bins.

What do you do to relax?

To relax I love to go on long walks with my husband and kids.
