Reading my weekly Which? bulletin, I came across this article, which I thought I should share with you all.
Energy suppliers are to stop giving away energy saving light bulbs to meet a government target.
The CERT (Carbon Emissions Reduction Target) said that energy suppliers had to help householders improve their energy efficiency. To do this many were giving free energy saving light bulbs to their customers as a step towards lowering carbon emissions. But on the 1st July the DECC (Department of Energy and Climate Change) announced that the direct mail outs of energy saving light bulbs are to be removed from the scheme from the 1st January 2010. This is to make way for other energy efficient activities to take place.
You will still be able to buy the energy saving light bulbs at discounted prices from selected shops working with energy suppliers under the CERT scheme.
