Saturday sees the beginning of Organic Fortnight and we are celebrating the abundance of the season here at The Green Familia. All this week our Greenie Thoughts will be turned to British Organic Food in anticipation of this weekend’s Soil Association Organic Food Festival.
I have long been a fan of the festival and have been along several times. It
is held in Bristol’s harbourside and includes a massive food market, organic clothing, homewares, skincare where you can shop in organic heaven. There is also plenty to keep you entertained with a demo kitchen where amongst others you can see Sophie Grigson and Gill Meller from River Cottage HQ. There is a dedicated kids area with activities such as junk modelling, games, food tastings, yoga for 2 – 7s, a cooking bus for 7 – 11s and even a chill out area for breast feeding Mamas. You can also enjoy an arts and entertainment fringe or a cruise around the harbour. Don’t get me started on the competitions – I will be entering them all!
You can bet on a great family day out to delight all of you senses. No doubt the kids will be exhausted by the time you get home! Tickets are £4 each and under 16s go free. All tickets are purchased on the day and there are several ticket stations around the perimeter. It is on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September 2008 and you can find out more by visiting the Soil Association.
