Solid Kitchen Caddy - Silver 5 Litre
Natalie writes…

As a light green family, we’re always on the lookout for ways to be more eco-conscious without crippling the bank and one of the ways to improve your light green living is to invest in a kitchen composting caddy.

Now if you want to test out your family to make sure they use it before going for a sexier alternative, lots of places sell these barebone looking things that let you get the job done although they may not fit in with your stylish kitchen. You can chuck in organic waste like tea bags, veggie and fruit peelings, and egg shells.

The one featured is the Silver 5 Litre Solid Kitchen Caddy which is £4.95 plus £2.50 delivery from Ethical Junction which they say is the most popular kitchen caddy in the UK. At this price, it’s a great start and features a close fitting lid for keeping back dodgy smells.

If you’re like me and you have a finely tuned sense of smell, you can buy one with a carbon filter from Harrod Hulticulture for £7.95 although delivery will set you back £4.95. It’s also worth checking your nearest John Lewis or Robert Dyas store.

If you decide that you want to graduate to a more stylish alternative, my first choice would have to be this stainless steel composting pail for £29.95.

Don’t forget to remind other family members to use it!
