Have you got lots of old or unused mobile phones hidden away around your house, sitting in drawers and cluttering up cupboards? Do you or your family constantly upgrade to newer models, leaving the unwanted phones abandoned? Here at TGF we know that we do, and because we are always on the lookout for ways to help protect the environment we don’t just want to throw the mobiles out with the rubbish. Did you know that there are an estimated 90 million old mobiles just lying around, most of which will end up in landfill? Mobile phone recycling is the green way to address this problem.
Recycling is the easiest way to sell a mobile and is also a great way to preserve resources. Mobile phones contain components that become toxic when separated and when released into the atmosphere these can contribute to the destruction of the ozone layer and can be dangerous to our health as well.
Whilst researching what to do with our old mobiles, we can across Top Dollar Mobile. We like the ethos of the company and with 16 years of expertise they seem to know what they are doing. Their motto is: ‘Together let’s make a better life, a better planet!’ and by promoting the concept of recycling and re-use they aim to help to bring down levels of electronic waste that would otherwise end up in landfills.
We like the fact that Top Dollar makes it a trouble-free and uncomplicated process to recycle our mobiles. Simply search on their website for the make and model of your phone and check the price they are offering. Fill in your details and you will then receive an email confirmation. Shortly afterwards a free-post envelope will arrive. Just follow the instructions and send them your mobile. Once they have checked and verified the condition of the phone, you will receive payment within 5 working days. Easy!
Saving the planet is a huge undertaking, but a small step at a time could make a big difference. We are going to try to do our bit and send off our old phones – why don’t you? What’s more, not only will you stop toxic materials from going to landfill but you can make some spare cash and declutter your home at the same time. Mobile phones can cause huge damage to the environment if not disposed of correctly, so make sure that you dispose of yours in an environmentally friendly way, just like we will at TGF!

Thanks for sharing this story. Isn’t it incredible to think there are SO many unused mobiles; I find that sad because it indicates how little we think of those resources – we don’t really understand the true value of reusing them in some way. Anyway, with schemes like mobile phone recycling on the up, it’s easy for us all to do our bit to save resources and be more green and there’s money to be made too so it’s a win-win
