Natural Living v Nasties: Furniture Polish

For this week’s Natural Living v Nasties feature, I’m looking at furniture polish. I use polish to care for natural materials like wood and I love the scent of a freshly polished table, so I thought I’d look at natural alternatives to an aerosol bottle.
Orange Oil Furniture Polish by Earth Friendly is made from olive and orange oils and can be used for cleaning wood, formica and vinyl. It’s kind on your skin and the environment too. Priced at £3.75 for 500ml.
Bio D Household Polish is based on carnauba wax and is suitable for use on wood, veneer and laminate surfaces. It’s ingredients come from renewable sources and are biodegradable. Available for £3.99 for 750ml.
Make your own so you know exactly what you are using and you’ll probably save some money too. Pour 3 parts olive oil (no need to use extra virgin!) and 1 part white vinegar into a spray bottle, then add a few drops of lemon or orange oil depending on which fragrance you prefer. Shake well before use.
