Natural Living v Nasties: Kitchen Roll

53806 - TC Kitchen RollKitchen roll is in my sights this week for our Natural Living v Nasties feature.  It seems so wasteful to use it and throw it away, but so convenient too.  Here are some alternatives and ways to feel better about using it.

Traidcraft recycled kitchen roll is made from 100% recycled paper sourced within the UK.  By buying this kitchen roll you would also be supporting poorer countries as a proportion of the price supports fairtrade producers providing them with education, clean water, etc. Available from £1.50 for a two pack.

Ecoleaf Jumbo Kitchen Roll is also made from 100% recycled paper, but comes in a compostable wrap.  It comes in a big 500g pack and is available from £2.53.Composting kitchen roll is very much an option as long as you haven’t used it to clear up cooked food, dairy products, chemicals, or pet or human waste.  Don’t forget to compost the inner tube too.

We’ve recently given up kitchen towel. I got sick of my husband being so wasteful with it so I just stopped buying it. We now just use clothes a lot more.

Well done Michelle, I have cut down on how much I buy of it and slowly I think it is getting the message across to the rest of my family to think before using.
