What is it?
Adagio Teas have launched a range of ready to drink iced teas made from pure ingredients without any sweeteners – they are called Antedotes.
Who’s testing it? Me – I got into herbal and fruit teas in the early nineties when I was living in Switzerland for a few months. I’m an enthusiastic tea drinker and will try almost any tea.
Set Up The teas are made with only fresh tea leaves, filtered water and vitamin C. They come in handy, easy to carry 500ml bottles.
In Use The teas are easy to carry around and can be drunk straight from the bottle. Whilst I consider myself to be a hardcore teadrinker, I will admit to being a bit of a softie in the green tea stakes. I drink green teas most days, but in very weak infusions. These bottles are rather stronger than my tastebuds usually allow, but I found them very refreshing when served really ice cold. I also found them great diluted with cold water.
I was lucky enough to be able to try both the green tea and the oolong tea. The green tea seemed to be to be slightly stronger than the oolong one, which I found a little surprising as I had expected it to be the other way round. The oolong antedote had a fragrant taste with a slightly sweet aftertaste. With a slightly fresher greener taste, I’d choose green tea for those blazing hot afternoons and oolong for a late afternoon chaser.
Any Negatives? The infusions were a bit strong for my taste, but I loved drinking them either ice cold or in dilution. These teas are packed with antioxidants; have no artificial ingredients; and are good for you.
Price and Availability Available from Adagio teas for £1.49 – there are 5 flavours available: green, oolong, jasmine, white and black teas.
Overall A healthy ready to drink refresher to take out and about with you or enjoy while lazing in the garden. Adagio have provided this month’s main competition prize. Plus there’s more information about their other products in Brenda’s recent post.
