SnugBaby Launch first UK made organic baby carrier

UK baby carrier manufacturer and retailer, SnugBaby, is announcing the launch of their 100% organic cotton soft baby carrier – the perfect addition to any eco-friendly family! The Organic SnugBaby will be the first organic, BSEN approved mei tai to be made and sold in the UK.

Since they broke into the UK baby carrier market in 2008, SnugBaby baby carriers have grown in popularity, and have gained a reputation for being comfortable and fashionable, so it comes as no great surprise that they have been working hard to source suitable organic fabric to make their stylish mei tai baby carriers.

An organic version of SnugBaby‘s baby carrier will be a great addition to the collection. Organic cotton is usually softer and stronger than normal cotton since there are no chemicals used in the dying process, which can toughen the fabric, so a softer version is perfect against baby’s skin. As well as the benefits to baby, the organic version also benefits the environment, since the pesticides used in the conventional growing process can disturb the ecology of the area, reduce biodiversity, and leach into the ground, potentially contaminating water and harming marine life.

The Organic SnugBaby is made in the same tried and tested way as the original version, and has been safety tested to BSEN 13209-2:2005 (the optional British Standard for soft baby carriers), making it the ideal way to carry babies from newborn to 15kg in comfort and style.

Although the practice of “babywearing” is nothing new, it has become more accepted as a way of parenting in the Western World over the past few years, aided by high profile celebrity babywearers, such as Angelina Jolie and Julia Roberts, in the US, and Billie Piper and Mylene Klass in the UK. It is now a favourite way amongst many parents of transporting their babies, and also used as a general parenting tool, thanks to its numerous benefits for both parent and child.
