Sponsored Video – Extended Range Electric Cars are the Green Option
Electric cars have been around for several years now, increasing in popularity as more and more of us realise that they are a serious green option. With the constant rising price of fuel, eco-friendly cars are the way forward, and here at TGF we have been looking at the new generation of innovative electric vehicles.
Although electric cars are most often seen in cities where the smaller 2 seaters can be seen zipping around town, we need something that will comfortably seat all the family and that has space for the weekly shop or enough room in the boot to pack our bags in for the family holiday.
More importantly, we need a car that will take us much further than just popping to the shops within our local neighbourhood. What we are looking for is an extended range electric vehicle. The Chevrolet Volt seems to tick all the boxes for us. Firstly, it is an environmentally responsible vehicle that can drive between 40 and 80 kilometres on electric power alone. Secondly, it will then keep going for up to 500 kilometres because of the 1.4L gasoline-powered generator. Thirdly, the 5 door 4 seat model will fit all the family and our luggage in and, finally, it is a smartly designed looking vehicle.
Researching green vehicle options in the past we have often been concerned about the range of the cars that we have looked at, worrying that we might not have the power to reach our destination and will end up stranded somewhere, but the Volt gives us the option of refueling the car if there is no access to a power supply.
The Chevrolet Volt is definitely a contender for us in our quest for a car that fulfils our vision of green auto technology.
