Regular readers will know that part of my own journey into being greener has resulted in me joining a company called Wikaniko. This fab company allows me to sell eco products to my friends and readers that are really well priced and are ethically sourced. Do you have a local hero?

Future Friendly are looking for local environmental heros as part of their 4th annual Future Friendly awards. They’re looking to celebrate and reward people who have made a real effort to live a more sustainable life whether it is by saving energy, saving water, or through reducing waste. Maybe your school is bringing recycling schemes to the community or you’ve worked with your neighbours on an allotment project? No matter how big or small your project, they want to hear from you.

Entrants could be a group or individual who have benefited their community or have made a positive change in their everyday lives when tackling environmental waste, or helped others to do the same. You have up to 500 words to tell the judges about your local hero and you need to get entries in here in by 7th August. The lucky winner will win a bursary of £10,000 to fund their work.

Future Friendly is a partnership between P&G and environmental experts: Energy Saving Trust, Waste Watch and Waterwise. They aim to help and inspire people to take Future Friendly action and to waste less this summer. Their website has a number of great tips on how to reduce waste – I certainly learnt a thing or two. Did you know that your fridge could be more energy efficient if you store food in glass containers rather than plastic?

Win tickets to RHS Chelsea Flower Show with Love The Garden

Have you ever fancied a trip to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show? Well this year you can win a pair of tickets to go to the show, courtesy of the team from behind Love the Garden (The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company) and Hillier Nurseries.

All you have to do is enter the gardening competition on the Love The Garden website. They want your tips and gardening advice, but not just written down on boring paper, they want it on video!
