Today on day three of the 2011 TGF Xmas Gift List we are showcasing:

Freya Design Keepsake Box – The keepsake boxes are all made from solid wood. We use New Zealand pine and European alder and birch which are all light in weight but robust. The different types of wood are only sourced from countries where there are strict regulations regarding sustainability. All products are painted with non-toxic paints and we have decided to leave the inside of the boxes unpainted in order to retain the natural smell of wood.

Freya Design offer a good choice of different styles for both boys and girls, although my favourite is the car one, which I know my nephew would love as he could store all his cars that are currently in a bag in there.

I have a bit of a passion for boxes so I was delighted to discover Freya Design. Freya Design specialise in wooden boxes which come from sustainable sources of pine, alder and birch. These woods have been chosen for their robustness and lightness of weight. Whether you’re after a keepsake box, a storage solution or even a jewellery box, there’s a box in their range to suit you.

I like this fab Train Box which would suit any train mad little boy. It measures 27x17x14cm and can be personalised too, if you like. There’s a range of boy friendly designs like dinosaurs and boats, plus a girl orientated selection with ballerinas, fairies and mermaids. It’s priced at £29 or £39 if you want personalisation.

Sorting out my house, ahead of moving, has made me very aware, that it would be helpful to have a safe place to keep those precious bits and pieces. This Wedding Box is great for keeping a few memories: Order of Service, photos, etc. It’s an attractive item to grace your shelves too. You can add in your own photo and the price includes personalisation with names and dates (up to 25 characters). There are 2 sizes available and prices start from £49.

Who are you, what is your position and what are the reasons for starting the company?

Married with two kids, decided to set up own web business to combine artistic flair with financial background (Chartered Accountant) and be available 24/7 for family.

Scandinavia has a long tradition of making wooden furniture and interior design, so it is no coincidence that the founder of Freya Design, Marie Ekerholm, is Swedish. Nordic simplicity and vibrant colours that blend in with the natural materials used is very much at the core of the Freya Design product range. All Freya Design products are not only designed to be functional but are also beautiful and long lasting.

How long have you been in business?

Freya Design started trading in 2004.

Tell us about your products?

We focus on selling top quality wooden boxes of all shapes and sizes. Through the easy-to-use website www.freyadesign.co.uk you can buy keepsake boxes, memory boxes, trinket boxes, jewellery boxes and money boxes for special occasions such as the birth of a new baby, special birthdays, weddings or the sad occasion of a bereavement.

The environment is naturally central to the philosophy of Freya Design and is always the main consideration when making decisions – and not just adopted to follow fashion. Does your child spend, spend, spend or do they save? Teaching children how to save and budget is fun and educational and will benefit them too as they become older.
