In Use

It´s just got cold enough for my son to wear his latest Frugi must have, the scrumptious reversible snuggle fleece, aptly named as it is totally cosy and snuggley.

The top is made from a lovely organic cotton and recycled polyester, which means its breathable and durable and washes well. Best of all its reversible so if we are out and about and it gets mucky I can always reverse it and bingo! We have a whole new outfit!

Any negatives?

No none.

Available to buy from Frugi for £28. It is available in ages 6/12 months through to 18/24 months. Choose from two colour styles. If you are buying as a gift you can have it boxed up.

Frugi´s New Locally Produced Knitted Hats!

TGF are loyal supporters of the brilliant children´s brand Frugi therefore when were heard their latest news we knew that we had to share it with our readers! Frugi are over the moon to announce that they are now working with a unique team this Autumn to produce a wonderful limited edition of woolly hats for children!

As the cold winter weather is fast approaching The Reversible Knitted Hat collection that was launched just last month is perfect to keep our little one´s heads warm! The collection of hats is already proving to be a real hit with customers who have simply fallen in love with the little Doodle Dog and Yeti bobbles!

The team are working specifically with a Cornish farmer and his very rare Wensleydale sheep to create these wonderful hats! Unfortunately only eighty Wensleydale sheep exist in the world today, and astonishingly fourteen of these live on a farm in Cornwall which is just a few miles away from the Frugi headquarters. The farmers, John and Sue Blegan are extremely passionate about working to protect this fabulous breed of Wensleydale sheep, which are said to produce the finest wool in the world. Sadly, the breed has declined as they are slow to mature, so are not economically viable for meat.

As part of Frugi’s new Autumn Collection their fleece has found a home. After shearing, the wool is sorted, spun and sent off to be dyed at Falmouth University then the finished yarn was sent to Nicky – a fabulous knitter based just down the road from Frugi. Hand crafted by Nicky in her Helston studio under the watchful eye of Otto (her dog) the gorgeous hats return to Frugi to be sold to lovely customers across the planet. With the summer season coming to a close it is time to start thinking about wearing our wellies for the cold winter weather and the rain ahead! Last week whilst on holiday I stumbled across Babipur‘s lovely shop in Portmadog where they offer a lovely range of organic and fairtrade products. If you can’t get to Portmadog, don’t worry because you can get the full range on their website.

If you’re planning a late beach holiday, I’d recommend this lovely Frugi Towelling Cosy. Buy the next size up and it will fit next year too. It’s a supersoft coverup, that’s made from organic cotton, to keep children warm and dry after a dip in the sea or on a windy day at the beach. Available in sizes 2-5 and currently in the sale at a price of £16.99.

Babipur offer this soft and luxorious lambswool baby blanket that comes in its own organic cotton gift bag. It would make a fabulous and very welcome new baby present. It’s priced at £39.95.

My son loved Babipur’s range of toys especially this great diplodocus soft toy – dinosaurs are very popular at the moment. This fab diplodocushas a very appealing big smiley face. Beautiful Baby Blankets

Everyone around me seems to be pregnant at the moment, so I’ve been looking at baby blankets. Blankets make lovely gifts and are useful too – you can use them out in the pram or the pushchair; at home in the cot; and as a portable playmat. I’ve picked out a few of my favourites to share with you.

This lovely reversible frog blanket is from Organics for Kids. It’s made from double thickness, organic cotton jersey. On the one side you have a frog print and on the other there’s stripes. Other colours and designs are available so you can choose a butterfly, ladybird, dog or gecko if you prefer. They’re easy to care for as they can be machine washed at 30 degrees. It’s priced at £24.32.

Frugi make some very gorgeous things and this baby blanket is definitely one of them. It’s super soft and high quality that will last. I love the cute sea creatures design and it will suit girls or boys equally well. It has a little hood which makes it great for swaddling or you can use it without if you prefer. It’s made from 100% Organic Cotton and is machine washable. There are also matching items available: a beanie, night gown and bodysuit. Usually priced at £18, but currently on sale for £16.20.

Before my son was born, I really wanted to make something for him that was individual to him. So I dusted off my knitting needles – I hadn’t knitted since my early teens – and made this apple tree motif blanket. I haven’t shown you a picture of his blanket, because I made it in chocolate brown and it doesn’t show up so well on a photo. It was my first attempt at a cable pattern and whilst I had to do some unravelling and reworking when I did the first set of apple trees, it got much easier as the pattern repeats. There’s no fiddly shaping to do unlike making something to wear and it doesn’t need sewing up. I’m very happy with it and would make one in a different colour if I have another baby. The pattern book costs £6.95 and there are plenty of other designs to make up if you feel inspired. Obviously you’d need to buy yarn as well.

My friend has just had her fifth baby girl recently, so I have been searching out some cool baby vests for her and another mutual friend who is due to have her first baby boy in the next few weeks, here are some of my finds.

Today on TGF Likes…we are liking very much the Ducky Blue Nightgown by Frugi, available from Natural Nursery. I wish these had been around when my kids were babies. It makes changing nappies a real doddle!
