TGF Likes…’Henry’ The Bamboo Rabbit

Today on TGF likes…we are loving the super soft bamboo corduroy rabbit from and the little dog laughed. Lovingly handmade it has amazing detail with its own hand crochet overall and shoes. It comes in it’s own matching knitted drawstring bag and with a rhyme.

This would make a lovely newborn or christening gift.

When I read this in my weekly update from www.springwise.com I just had to share it with you. Postcarden is a great gift and greeting card idea all rolled up into one stylish idea!

What is it?

Who is testing it?

Jo, first time mum to Erin, aged 4 months.

Set up?

The products come in a beige/cream travel bag which is the size of a small handbag, it has a zip along 3 sides and a handle. Inside there are separate holders for 5 of the products, and a zip compartment.

In use?

Connecting massage oil – this absorbed well but I wasn’t keen on the fragrance.

Alleviating leg lotion – lovely. Non-greasy, absorbed well and I really liked the smell of Orange, although my husband thought it smelt a bit masculine (but what do they know!).

Balancing facial mist – very refreshing but it stung my eyes, it does say to avoid contact with eyes, but this is difficult when the instructions are to spray it directly on your face!

Protecting nappy change balm – not impressed with this one. It has an overpowering smell and is very watery. I’ll be sticking to the non-perfumed thicker creams I think.

Absorbing dusting powder – I didn’t try this as health professionals say that talc is now a big no-no for babies, they can inhale it and it has also been linked to ovarian cancer in girls.

Comforting room mist – nice smell and nice idea in theory, although I’m not convinced that it actually helped to comfort Erin.

Any negatives?

See my comments above, regarding all of the products except the leg lotion.

Overall?

The best part about this product is the travel bag itself, nice size and well-designed. Unfortunately the individual items inside were not as good, I think they were made more with style in mind, at the expense of practicality and comfort.

This week I’ve been looking at some of the fantastic gifts that are available from The Green Gift Company.

One of my favourites, either as a gift or a treat for myself, are these pouch bags with a pretty flower detail. They come in a range of 9 colours; are made from raw Thai silk; and have a wrist strap to slip over your hand. They’re handmade in Thailand and are fairly traded. The price is £14 each.

For a perfect housewarming gift, try these oval aluminium bowls. They come in three lovely colours: orange, red and chocolate. They’re made from recycled aluminium, with an bright enamel colour on the inside. Again they are fairly traded, but this time they are made in India by hand. Prices start at £8 for the smaller bowls and a larger version is available for £18.

These Mini Spa Bags would make the perfect present for a sister or girl friend. Each sustainable jute gift bag contains a 100g ethical hand made soap and 300g bath fizz. The soap and bath fizz are made from organic palm oil, organic sea salt and all ingredients are ethically sourced and paraben free. The packaging is biodegradable and carbon neutral. The sets are made in the UK and are available for £10.

I recently got sent the information on a new website called Tamielle, which is definitely worth a look. I have checked out a few possibilities for future gifts and bookmarked them for future reference.
