The Green Apple have some lovely accessories for the home available. They source all their products from ethical suppliers, that are also concerned about their impact on the environment. I love these Bamboo Containers. They’re very stylish and come in a range of lovely bright colours and a lacquered finish. I think they’d look great not only in your kitchen, but also in other areas of the home like the bathroom or the playroom. They measure 8.5 x 15cm so you’ll be able to get quite a lot in too. Normally they’re priced at £12 each, but they’re currently available at the sale price of £6 per container.

Autumn Hot Picks: Socks

Last year’s socks are looking rather threadbare or in my son’s case too small, so I think some sock shopping may be on the cards. Luckily, there is quite a range out there and there’s a choice of materials too with organic cotton, hemp and bamboo socks now available.

1. Organic cotton stripy socks from Spirit of Nature for children. There are 2 designs and they would suit both girls and boys. As well as being reasonably priced at £3.95, they are come in a wide range of sizes.

2. Braintree Ladies Hemp Sport Socks are a bright addition to your feet this autumn. I love these red sport socks made from hemp, which is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. They cost £4 a pair and one size fits those with feet sizes 3-6.

My favourite is the Solio Solar Charger. This is a very easy to use solar charger which is compatible with almost all mobile phones, including Samsung, Nokia, Motorola and Sony-Ericsson. I’m not even into model kits but I adore this Solar Helicopter Kit from eco store, The Green Apple.

Made from laser cut plywood, it needs no glue making it a doddle to assemble, and features a wooden rota powered by its own integrated solar panel. It includes detailed instructiona and is suitable from 6 years plus, or you might even want to use as a decorative item for your desk.

I love the simplicity of the clean lines and the bare bones look and not a battery in sight.

A very reasonable £12.95 from The Green Apple.
