TGF End of Year Round Up!

Where do I start! Well it has to be a big, big thank you to you the readers of www.thegreenfamilia.co.uk. Without you guys the blog would not be what it is. In the last year we have doubled our figures and are continuing to grow, so give yourselves a round of applause. A big thank you must also go to Erica and Sue our fantastic contributors, who have reviewed many many products and created such great content on TGF. Also thanks goes to all the companies we have featured and their fantastic eco products, PR companies for keeping us up to date with new products and to all the advertisers and supporters of TGF, without your help it would not be possible to keep TGF alive!

So what have we achieved this year at TGF, when I sat down to write this post, my mind went blank! Note to self: make notes as this coming year goes on!

In 2009 we launched the new TGF Rated Reviews, where all products reviewed came under this umbrella and this month we whittled down the reviews to the finalists, which were then voted for by you the readers of TGF. Winners to be announced shortly! We also introduced new guest posters, we have had some really interesting posts from Vicky. We also introduced new feature posts including: Charity of the month. We celebrated Organic fortnight and British Business Mums Week amongst others. But for me the most exciting thing of 2009 was the planned revamp of TGF. Thanks to Sharon for her stunning designs. It took much longer and many false starts, but the end result was worth the wait and the frustrations that was felt by myself for many months!!

So what does 2010 hold for TGF? Well we want to grow and reach a wider audience, so please do share us with your friends. We want to show people that it is easy to do your bit. But the main thing is that we all need to do something, even if it is just switching a couple of products from your weekly shop to organic or fair trade produce, buying fresh produce from a farmers market rather than the big superstore, recycling and reusing rather than just dumping. We are not here to preach, we want people to know there are alternatives out there which do not cost more and ultimately are a better option for you and your family. We will be starting a monthly newsletter just for TGF subscribers where you will be able to enter competitions, get access to discount codes etc first before they go live on the homepage. We are also planning something for the Junior TGF members to get them involved and we will be extending out our Ethical Gift Guide that was very popular this Christmas…phew! I am glad I am having a break this Crimbo, getting myself chilled and ready for 2010!!

Now for the moment you have been waiting for the winners of the 1st TGF Rated Review Awards of 2009. All the products reviewed were of a great standard and it was hard to whittle it down to the finalists, but we managed it! The response to the awards was immense, thank you so much to all that voted, there was literally thousands and thousands of votes to be counted! All winners will be promoted by TGF and will be able to display the new TGF Gold Leaf Logo on their site. all finalists will also be able to display the TGF Green Leaf Logo on their sites.

Winner of the Practical Products Category is STOKKE TRIPP TRAPP.

All that remains is for me to say THANK YOU again to everybody who has made 2009 a wonderful year for TGF and wish you all the very best for 2010, the dawning of a new decade! Brenda xxx
