TGF Rated DVD Review: Dinotopia: Quest for the Ruby Sunstone

Our second DVD review of the day is all about cute beloved dinosaurs.  My boys were dinosaur mad when they were little and it seems a phase that all little boys go through.

Complete with an allstar cast, which include the likes of : Alyssa Milano, Jamie Kennedy, Michael Duncan, George Segal and Malcolm McDowell.  You have a fully animated feature-length movie which is set on an island and shows how humans and dinosaurs can live together.

The story is all about how, hoping to see the world, 12-year-old orphan Kex stows away in a lifeboat. Instead he is washed overboard and finds himself stranded on an uncharted island.

To his surprise, Kex discovers that he is in a land called Dinotopia, where dinosaurs have not only survived and developed the ability to speak, but have learned to live in harmony with human beings.

 

Kex is befriended by a young dinosaur named 26, who teaches him about life on the island.

Unfortunately trouble comes to paradise when the evil Ogthar is released from his stone prison and recovers the Ruby Sunstone, whose dark power can endanger all of Dinotopia. 

 

Can 26, Kex and the other dinosaurs defeat Ogthar and save their magical home?  Well if I told you the ending it would ruin the surprise, all I will say is that the little men that I watched it with, (thank you godson and friend) really enjoyed it and not once did I have the “is it nearly finished…I am bored!!” words uttered from their mouths, which can happen with 5 year olds.

 

Available from all good retailers from the 6th April 2009, price is £5.99.  Another great idea instead of an Easter gift instead of the usual Chocolate Egg.
