TGF Rated Review: Bentley Organic Hand Sanitizer

What is it? After a summer of swine flu warnings, most of us will probably have bought a hand sanitizer to use. Although I want to keep myself and my daughters healthy and germ-free, I always worried about what was actually in the hand-sanitizers I used, especially as I only ever use natural products normally. So I was really pleased to be able to try Bentley Organic’s Anti-Bacterial Moisturising Hand Sanitizer. Like others that are available, it cleanses hands without the need for water and kills 99.9% of germs. Unlike other hand sanitizers though, the Bentley Organic one is alcohol, paraben and fragrance free – fantastic!
Bentley Organic produce a variety of organic body care, baby care and home products. They follow two key principles – that all products are Soil Assosciation certified and that they are ‘Of the Earth, not costing the Earth’. Their products are all very reasonably priced making organic lifestyle choices possible for everyone, whatever your budget.
Who is testing it? Me and my two daughters, aged 2 and 4
In Use: The Hand Sanitizer is very easy to use. It comes in a small, handy bottle with a lid, so it’s great for keeping in bags for use when you are out. Just squirt the cleanser into your hands and rub thoroughly. I was expecting a gel when I first used this, but the Sanitizer is actually a foam. It feels very soft and is easy to spread all over your hands so you can make sure they are completely clean. It does take a little bit longer than normal hand santitzers to rub in, but that’s because it doesn’t contain alcohol, so that extra little bit of effort is well worth it in my opinion.
The Hand Sanitizer is designed to be ‘gentle on you but tough on germs.’ It contains 27% organic aloe vera, and this makes it very moisturising. I have quite dry skin on my hands but my hands were left soft, even after using the hand sanitizer several times a day. It also didn’t irritate my hands like some alcohol-based sanitizers do.
Any negatives: None
Price and Availability: The Hand Sanitizer is available from several online eco-stores including: Auravita, Big Green Smile, Goodness Direct and Natural Collection. A full list of online stockists can be found on the Bentley Organic website.
It costs around £3-£4 for a 50ml bottle – this should give you up to 125 applications.
Overall: The Hand Sanitizer is brilliant! It’s quick and easy to use, cleanses your hands thoroughly and leaves them feeling soft. All that, and with no nasty chemicals or alcohol. I’d definitely recommend this.
